I get really excited when I think about all the good TV out there. I guess my name is Telly for a reason. I'm sitting here at work, doing my menial tasks, checking facebook, answering the phones, etc, but the only thing I'm thinking about is Jonathan Rhys Meyers!
The Tudors, Showtime's historical extravaganza based on the early life of King Henry VIII just premiered last week here in Canada. Ooooooooh boy is it ever good! It's lavish, and proper, and everyone in it is beautiful. They have nudity and war and adultery and prayer and SAM NEILL!!
I used to hate history, but since mainstream popular culture has started integrating historical dramas into the mix I've been all about it. It may also be the actual degree I got in Art History, which is, although I didn't want to admit it, half history, that insighted the intrigue.
Either way, I can't wait to find out what happens next. When we left Harry and his court he had decided to unite Europe with this new-fangled idea called a treaty. And it's decided: I will tune in this week, and for the following 8 weeks, to see how the story unfolds. Either that or just pick up a history book.
The Tudors is on CBC Tuesdays at 9PM.
